About the Coronavirus Outbreak

A message to Shiga residents

At this point in time, the novel coronavirus is not considered prevalent in Japan.

Please continue implementing prevention measures for seasonal influenza, e.g. hand washing and following proper coughing etiquette.

Alcohol is an effective disinfectant.

We have created a service center for those coming back to Japan or having come into contact with an infected person.

If you find yourself with symptoms such as a cough or a fever, and have found yourself in any of the three following situations in the past 2 weeks, please contact the service center:

1- Visited Hubei province, including Wuhan city;

2- Were in close contact with someone who had visited Wuhei, including Wuhan city;

3- Were in close contact with a person infected by the novel coronavirus.

After asking about your symptoms, the service center will tell you how to receive a medical exam at a specialized medical institution.

Please do not visit a medical institution without contacting the center first.
